ITINERARY (Some parts of the itinerary may involve bullet train or boat travel)

Day 1 Palermo

Meet and greet at the airport of Palermo by the tour escort who will stay with you throughout the entire stay. From the airport, you will reach Palermo where a guide will be waiting for you for a guided tour of this enchanting city. The tour will continue then to Monreale where you visit the cathedral that is one of the greatest extant examples of Norman architecture anywhere. It was begun in 1174 by William II. It is, however, the large extent (6,500 m2) of the impressive glass mosaics covering the interior which make this church so splendid. With the exception of a high dado, made of marble slabs with bands of mosaic between them, the whole interior surface of the walls, including soffitsand jambs of all the arches, is covered with minute mosaic-pictures in bright colors on a gold ground. Back to the hotel late in the afternoon and check-in

Day 2 Segesta - Selinunte - Agrigento

After breakfast, leave Palermo travelling southwards to visit the first of the two archaeological parks you will find in Sicily: Segesta. After the visit, you will continue to Selinunte, the second archaelogical park located in the southern part of the Sicily. You will spend the night in Agrigento.

Day 3 Temples’ Valley - Piazza Armerina - Syracuse

In the morning, you will visit the Temples’ Valley (one of the most outstanding examples of Greater Greece art and architecture). After the visit, you will start the transfer to Syracuse stopping in Piazza Armerina where you will visit the Villa Romana del Casale. Excavations have revealed one of the richest, largest, and varied collections of Roman mosaics in the world for which the site has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The villa and its artworks date to the early 4th century AD. You will spend the night in Syracuse.

Day 4 Syracuse - Necropolis of Pantalica - Catania

This morning, you will visit Syracuse, The city is notable for its rich Greek  history, culture, amphitheaters, architecture, and as the birthplace of the preeminent mathematician and engineer Archimedes. This 2,700-year-old city played a key role in ancient times, when it was one of the major powers of the Mediterranean world. In the afternoon, you will reach the  the Necropolis of Pantalica, a collection of cemeteries with rock-cut chamber tombs dating from the 7th to the 13th centuries BC. Together with the city of Syracuse, Pantalica was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. Continue to Catania and check-in for the following three nights.

Day 5 Taormina - Catania

In the morning, you will visit the famous Ancient Greek Theatre of Taormina. In the afternoon, you will return back to Catania for a guided tour of the town. Night in Catania

Day 6   Etna Volcano

After brekfast, reach the volcano Etna Nord where there will be two guides waiting for you to explore the 2002 craters. Your adventure will begin along an easy trail that unwinds towards the lava flow of 2002. Passing through a splendid beech wood, we’ll reach the bottom of the craters from which the most important eruption in the last few decades on the northern side of the volcano spouted forth. We will cross the lava flow spilled from these lateral craters along a striking path that skirts the lava channel; a deep canyon cut out of the enormous magma mass that invaded and partially destroyed the centuries-old Ragabo Pine Forest. We’ll set off in the direction of the 1923 fracture and follow it part of the way, before continuing towards the volcanic cones of 2022, skirting the perimeter to begin your descent.

Back to Catania per night
