Day 1 Naples + Sorrento
At the airport of Naples, meet your tour escort who will stay with you throughout the entire stay in Italy. Before reaching the hotel in Sorrento where you will stay for 3 nights, you will have time to visit Naples and the Underground Naples.
Day 2 Herculaneum – Vesuvius
This morning, you will visit Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is famous as one of the few ancient cities that can now be seen in much of its original splendour, as well as for having been lost, along with Pompeii, Stabiae, Oplontis and Boscoreale, in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79 that buried it. Unlike Pompeii, the deep pyroclastic material which covered it preserved wooden and other organic-based objects such as roofs, beds, doors, food and even some 300 skeletons which were discovered in recent years along the seashore. It had been thought until then that the town had been evacuated by the inhabitants. In the afternoon, accompanied by an alpine guide, you will climb the Mount Vesuvius, the volcano responsible of the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum
Day 3 Pompeii + Amalfi Coast
Check-out. In the morning you will visit the Pompeii excavations while in the afternoon, you will explore the Amalfi Coast driving till Salerno where you will board the night ferry to Catania (departing at 10pm)
Day 4 Catania + Alcantara Gorges
You will arrive in Catania by 11am and from there you will reach the Natural Park of the Alcantara Gorges.Unique in the Italian and European natural landscape, the Alcantara Gorges are real canyons made of black lava walls up to 50 meters high, in the typical shape of a prism that the rocks have taken during the cooling process. At the end of the visit, continue to Taormina and check-in
Day 5 Vulcano Island
After breakfast, you will reach Milazzo and from here by hydrofoil you will sail to the Island of Vulcano that is a small volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 16 miles north of Sicily and located at the southernmost end of the eight Aeolian Islands. The island contains several volcanic calderas, including one of the four active volcanoes in Italy that are not submarine. The word "volcano" and its equivalent in several European languages derive from the name of this island, which in turn derives from Vulcan, the Roman god of fire. An alpine guide will be with you during the excursion to the Gran Cratere at the top of the Fossa cone. In the afternoon, back to Sicily by hydrofoil and then by coach to the hotel in Taormina
Day 6 Etna Volcano
