ITINERARY (Some parts of the itinerary may involve bullet train or boat travel)

Day 1    Milan – Florence

At the airport of Milan, meet your tour escort who will stay with you throughout the entire stay in Italy.

Drive directly via motorway to Florence. On the way stop in Bologna, seat of one of the oldest universities in the world: we are speaking of the 11th century! Continue to Florence in the afternoon and check-in

 

Day 2 Florence

Today will be completed dedicated to the visit of the famous Renaissance town. Your visit will include also the Academy Gallery, where the famous statue of Donatello is located, the Duomo and the Baptistry. Time at disposal in the afternoon before returning back to the hotel

 

Day 3 Siena – San Gimignano

Today you will explore Siena, Monteriggioni and San Gimignano. Siena, was the rival town of Florence during the Middle Ages when Florence was sided with the Pope while Siena with the Emperor. Famous is the Montaperti Battle in 1260 when Florence was heavily defeated. Siena is also famous for the Palio, a horse race run twice a year since the that time.

Monteriggioni is a small Medieval borgo (village), few miles from Siena. It is an impressive wall-town, very well preserved.San Gimignano is the Medieval village famous for its towers.

 

Day 4 Lucca – Pisa – Le Cinque Terre

Check-out and transfer to reach Le Cinque Terre where you will stay for 2 nights. On the way you will visit first Lucca, one of the best well-preserved wall-towns in Europe (the visit of the town will be made by bike). and then Pisa where you will visit the famous Leaning Tower in Pisa and the other monuments located in the Miracles’ Square. Check-in in a hotel in Versilial

 

Day 5 Corchia Grotto – White marble quarries

Today you will explore the mountains around Carrara, the most famous city in the world for the marble. In the morning you will visit the karst system of a cave, one of the largest hypogenic environments in Europe and in the entire world. It is a vast complex of tunnels, wells and natural rooms excavated by water during millions of years in the marble heart of the Mountain.

After a packed lunch, in the afternoon, you will visit the famous white marble quarries. It is from this marble that the most famous statues come from. The quarry is not made on a human scale. It has the proportions of the giants: the ceilings are dozens of meters high, with huge ambiences, enormous blocks and excavation vehicles so big that you need a stepladder to get in.

 

Day 6 Le Cinque Terre – Milan

Check-out. Explore Le Cinque Terre villages walking along the path that follows the coast or taking the train from one village to the other. Once in Monterosso, the last village on the westside of Le Cinque Terre, board the coach and drive norhwards to Milan. Check-in a hostel in town. 

 

Day 7 Milan - Como

Guided tour of Milan in the morning, including a visit to The Last Supper, the fresco of Leonardo Da Vinci. In the afternoon, you will reach the nearby Como for a guided tour of the town. Back to the hostel late in the afternoon. 

 

Day 8 Departure

Check-out and transfer to the airport of Milan
